Canadian Solar enters India on back of PV deal with Cirus

Canadian Solar Inc has announced the signing of a photovoltaic (PV) solar module sales agreement with Hyderabad, India-based Cirus Solar Systems Private Limited (Cirus) to deliver 33 MW of solar modules.

The modules will be utilized for solar PV projects designed, installed and commissioned by Cirus on behalf of two prominent Indian conglomerates.

Though the dollar amount of the transaction was not released, Canadian Solar said that it will deliver the solar modules in the third and fourth quarter of 2011.

Cirus, which is backed by Indian energy giant Indu Group, will employ the solar panels in three solar farms: a 20 MW plant and two government sponsored solar parks in Gujarat, India with generating capacity's of 8 MW and 5 MW respectively.

Cirus addresses both off-grid and utility scale solar power projects worldwide.
