Expected green light for red-flagged hydropower development

China Green News is reporting that a hydroelectric station built illegally in a Hunan conservation area is to continue operation.

While its operation have been closed since last Christmas by the local environmental protection department which discovered its existence  in 2008 , the news outlet claims that the Tiande Hydropower Development Company of Shimen County which built it, is set to be given the nod for its continued operation.

Local officials have praised the project and some are alleged to hold substantial share-holdings in the development company, in violation of state regulations.
