India's Azure continues solar rollout

January 09, 2012

India's solar energy developer Azure Power has installed its third Indian photovoltaic (PV) plant in less than two weeks.

The latest 40-acre 5MW facility is located in Rajasthan and is the largest so far of its kind to be installed under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission.

Inderpreet Wadhwa, CEO and founder of Azure Power, said, “With the commissioning of our third grid connected plant we have now demonstrated our strong engineering and construction capabilities in three different states in India.”

The project was partially financed by a US Export-Import Bank deal signed last July.
