Amid growing rumors that France-based power giant, Alstom is about to acquire Repower from India’s Suzlon Group for EUR1.5 billion, Suzlon has  landed a contract to supply its subsidiary with wind turbines totaling 20 MW for two wind farms in the UK.

The South Cumbrian region, Armistead, will see six of REpower’s MM82 machines installed and the Carsington Pasture installation, which is owned by independent power generation company International Power, will consist of four of the same turbines, which each have an output of 2.05MW.

Apart from this big win for the Suzlon group and the assumed Alstom acquisition of Repower, which Suzlon has denied, the Indian power giant also found itself in the news this week when its shares jumped by 7.1 percent after selling off five Brazilian wind farms for USD300 million to a renewable energy investment fund.
