Malaysian wind turbine group plans $800 million Vietnam venture

Malaysia’s Timar Wind Solar Energy Sdn Bhd plans to invest USD800 million in developing the wind power manufacturing facilities in Vietnam’s Ninh Thuan province, having just signed an MOU to that effect with the provincial authorities.

The Malaysian company produce vertical axis wind turbines using magnetic levitation technology licensed from Shenzhen TIMAR scenery Energy Technology Co Ltd. Maglev Turbines are claimed to be 20 percent more efficient that conventional tower and rotor turbines, have life span of 50 years and can save more than 50 percent in operational costs.

Timar said it plans to invest in two assembly plants in Vietnam in the future to help the country reduce the price of this product
