March 16, 2012

Germany’s Siemens Energy has won an order to supply solar receivers for a parabolic trough power plant to be built in India.

In total, Siemens will supply more than 17,000 universal vacuum air collector (UVAC) solar receivers, which will generate all of the heat for the 50MW facility and will begin in mid-2013

Shmuel Fledel, CEO of Siemens Solar Thermal Energy Business Unit, said: “We view this first order from Shiram EPC to be a demonstration of their trust in our know-how and technology.”

In January Siemens won three orders to supply a total of four steam turbine generator units for solar thermal power plants in Rajasthan, including a steam turbine generator unit for the Abhijeet plant.
