Bangladesh has said it is planning a waste-based power plant to generate around 50 MW of electricity for Dhaka. Italian company, Management Environment Finance, is tipped to build the BDT 68.82 billion (USD900 million) project.
State-owned Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB) will purchase electricity from the build-own-and-operate scheme which will use the 5000 tonnes of kitchen waste produced around Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) area, reported Bangladesh's Financial Express.
