Greenpeace guuide to greener electronics 2012

Wipro, India's electronics giant, has come first in the latest Greenpeace Guide to Greener Electronics, pushing US-company HP from the top position. Acer, Samsung, Sony and Lenovo also make it into the top-10 league. This is Greenpeace's 18th edition of the report, evaluating leading consumer electronics companies based on their commitment and progress in three environmental criteria: energy and climate, greener products and sustainable operations.
IDH sustainable electronics initiative

The Sustainable Trade Initiative (IDH) has launched a new program of working with electronics factories in China to support the development of innovative workforce management practices and to implement sustainability and better business performance. The launch event in Shenzhen was attended by nearly 200 representatives from major US and European brands, supplier factories based in China, civil society organizations, non-governmental organizations and representatives from the Guangdong Province Government.
Hewlett-Packard (HP) managed to reduce the energy consumption of it product portfolio by 50 percent over 2005 levels, achieving a target set in September 2009 nine months ahead of schedule, the company says.

HP is launching a new energy management and emissions reduction solution package through its Technology Services as the result of a partnership with environmental and energy management software specialist, Hara.

In a new report released by the Green Choice Alliance, a coalition of environmental NGOs in China, Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL) has been accused of being in serious breach of its own commitment to supplier responsibility.
