South Korea will invest 1.08 trillion won (USD 1 billion) into research and development (R&D) for energy industry this year in a bid to secure fresh energy resources and brace for the possible accidents involving nuclear power plants, the economy ministry said Tuesday.
Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao has signed a decree of the State Council, releasing new regulation aimed at strengthening safety management of radioactive waste, protecting the environment and safeguarding human health.
Taiwan's three operating nuclear power plants will soon run out of space to store nuclear waste, which could threaten their continued operation the Ministry of Audit (MOA) warned on Thursday.
